Well, Hello all. It's break time from school, which of course means that the rest of life gets really busy. For those of you that have not yet heard, my brother had his car stolen the day before yesterday while he was at work. Being that my flks now life in Arizona, he has no way to get around unless he has a car... which is where I come in and where this story begins: I had just finished driving Betty to San Francisco, and was setteling down to read myself some slashdot for the evening when I get a call from my brother saying that he could not find his car in the parking lot. In fact, he said that it was stolen and he was in the security office filling out a report for mall security. I popped off a quick call to Dad, then hit the road to give him a ride back to Santa Cruz. The only problem was this: It was really raining. Most of the time, rain on the freeway is an inconvienence, making things go slower. Here it was more of a problem because not only was it raining cats and dogs, it was ...  Read the rest of the entry...

Woohoo! Finally the quarter has ended. I can return to my simple life of watching anime and laying on the couch... errr... or can I... This was some quarter. I spent my time working on making a programming language, a backup thingy, and TAing the introduction to programming class. I'll have some posts later about what I spent my time working on, but now to do the good things in life, like hanging out with Betty :)   Read the rest of the entry...

Wheee! I though I was busy last year. I had no idea.... Graduate school is quite insane.... Here is my schedule for this week as an example: M: 12:30 -> 5:10 on campus T: 8:00 -> 10:00 on campus W: 12:30 ->5:10 Th: 8:00->6:30 F: 12:30 -> 5:10 I'm spending almost a full time job's amount of time on campus, not even including the 40+ hours of homework per week.... Wow this is tough. I'm so looking forward to a break. I'm also thinking of adding an iCal to this page, as soon as I get the ability to export from my pda to the web....   Read the rest of the entry...

Heres a bit of neetness, a wristwatch with palmOS in it: Linky Anyone remember when a writswatch would just tell you the time? Also as a bit of oddness, what does one do with a molecular building block kit, a costco sized box of calcum supplements, an emacs refernce card and a dvd copy of Star Trek 4? I'm not sure why, but that is what was in my jacket-pocket last night....   Read the rest of the entry...

Get a load of this book: What is wrong with this picture? Maybe the words "An Introduction" at the bottom of it.... This is going over recent research into the area of abstract programming language creation... It requires the knowledge of the advanced undergrad theory classes... and its an introduction??? I guess if it's written by the world's formost expert on the subject then anything can be an introduction?   Read the rest of the entry...

Hello folks, I have returned from the black abyss of my summer internship. The internship is **very** interesting and I have written some really cool code.... that I can't tell anyone about.... too bad :( Anyways, the internship is really fun, and is taking up all my time during the week... As If I wasn't busy enough during the week, I now have another job... making it a grand total of 3 jobs.... I now work for ratshack on sunday, I build computers for this guy on saturday, and I work for Zonelabs during the week. Wheee! I'm CrAzY!!! hehe. Family stuff has also decided to get some crazyness this summer. My family decided that the time in Calfornia is up now and it is time to move themselves to another state. This time they picked Arizona, being that Dad snagged a job for Intel in Phoenex. W00T Dad! This move has kind of a downside for one of the family members though, my brother can't follow them this time or he won't be able to get into a UC with in-state rates. So between working all the freking time I am also managing the channel of communication between my ...  Read the rest of the entry...

Phaffft.... I once though that I would havve a summer free of the infamays of radioshack, a summer where I could be free of answering "when do you close" and "my DVD player won't work".... but alas... it seems that my poorness has cought up to me, and I am at the shack once again. I don't really need any extra income right now either... grrr... I have started wholesale looking for something better for fall... hopefully I don't have another year of retail in my future... In other news, my car has decided that now is the time to misbehave. The "check engine" light came on last night, now I get to take it to the shop so that it can get looked at. At least it picked a good time for it to go out, as I am acutally making money right now. I can only imagine what would have happened if it deceded to go out during last winter break. :S As it stands, I am going to have t checked out on saturday to figure out what is wrong with it. Maybe I'll have everything fixed by Monday ... one can hope...   Read the rest of the entry...

Wheee! Classes are over and summer is here at last. Even though I have graduated it really dosen't feel like I'm done with anything. I still think about what classes I'm taking next year and I still am dealing with the stuf the school throws at me. I suppose that's how time goes. At least now if I go insane I have a BA behind my name and I could get a nice job working someplace that does not require too much thought. This summer is so much nicer then last summer. I though the place I lived in last summer was nice, but now that I think back on it, it was pretty bad... Not having internet during the summer was a real downer... This summer has quite a commute, just like last summer but everything else is much nicer. I am actually working someplace nice this time around. Not that there is anything bad with radioshack, but after two years of it retial has become a drag. Zonelabs is awesome, I get to work in interesting things and they actually seem interested in my skill set. Instead of pushing three dollar warrenties I get to delve into the depths ...  Read the rest of the entry...

Graduation time is here at last! I am now offically 1/2 done with my eventual degree program, now I have my BA! Graduation was fun, hearing Thib speak was fun, and hanging out with all the Baskin nerds one last time before we all go off into the universe seperately was fun. I hope to see all of you again sometime. As there have been many requests, here is a picture of Betty and I at graduation, so all of you can see what she looks like... darn good too :)   Read the rest of the entry...

Finals are finally over for me.... I am free from undergrad forever... W00T. Grad school next year though... Now after school gets out life gets really complicated: My roommate Nils is moving out, and I am switching to the bigger room. I have to move all my stuff over before my parents get here. That sounds simple enough, but wait... there's more. My new roommate, Susan, is moving in on Friday morning and I get to supervise that. So that means that when my parents get here on Saturday I will be living with a girl, and having a girlfriend... oddness. On top of that, Betty's folks veto'd the place we found for her so now we get to find another one by the day afer tomorrow when the campus housing people kick her out of the place she is living now. Wheeeee! I get to move and help moving all at the same time, then my parents are showing up. Wheeee! Life really does geta ll complicated all at the same time.   Read the rest of the entry...

Yeah, dinner making the blog once more.... This time I had some good food with Betty.... I started off by making her some cookies: It seems that when I build my kitchen I forgot to get a mixer, so I had to pick one up in order to make the cookie dough come out well. Mmmm.... cookies in the oven. As it turns out she has never had anyone make her cookies before so it turned into a better surprise then I had though.... She liked licking off the beaters as well... Mmmmm.... cookies.... Dinner was boiled lettuce with oyster sauce, and BBQ pork strips over rice. Very good stuff, although I will admit I never though of boiling lettuce...   Read the rest of the entry...

Hello all, It is once again time for those magic things called final exams. It is the time when I will once more dissapear from the face of the earth for a few days into my little cave of studyness. On the trip to the caffine and sugar infused reading binge, Betty and I stopped at a drugstre for some sugary goodness.... We wound up with more then we though we would get.... Its the candy of the beast.... GARWA... (you would think they would make sure nothing in the store would add up to a total of 666)   Read the rest of the entry...

Hrm, life is good. I've started looking at what classes I get to take next year, grad classes look so nice. It seems that I'm going to take the advanced OS class, the advances security class and the storage class all next year. I also get to take a class in Information theroy from Yellin, and probably his advanced crypto class too. I also found out that the family is all going to be down here for my graduation. My grandfather is coming in from Wisconsion (or New Orleans, I'm not sure which), my immediate family is coming from Grass Valley, and my Aunt is also coming down from Grass Valley. We are only missing one uncle and an aunt and we would have a full blown family reunion.... it's been so long since we've had one of those. Aww well, maybe everyone will come down for the bigger graduation in 4 years. That's the really important one anyways. I can hardly believe that I am near the end of my undergrad life. It seems like I have been going to school forever, my life has changed so much in the last four years that I hardly recognize myself. I am ...  Read the rest of the entry...
